ACLU of Florida Supports Anti-Islamic T-Shirts.

The ACLU of Florida has filed a lawsuit against the Alachua County School District for violating the rights of students and their parents to express themselves. The Free Speech lawsuit was filed after students of every age were asked not to wear a t-shirt promoting Christianity and negative towards Islam. The students were forced to cover up part of the t-shirts at first and then banned from wearing them at all. Later in the school year students and parents were forced by police to leave a football game within the school district when they came wearing the shirts.

The ACLU feels the actions of the school district violate the free speech of the students and the parents. The t-shirts initially stated “Jesus answered ‘I am the way and the truth and the life; no one goes to the Father except through me.” On the back of the shirts it read “Islam is of the Devil.” The same text was displayed by the students church on a billboard prior to the beginning of classes.

Covering up the text of the back of the shirts was the initial solution but later the school district banned the shirts all together when the text on the back was abbreviated “IIOTD”.
